Trans-Siberian Orchestra - and guess "Who" showed up
Sunday, December 16, 2007 - 5:45 PM
This past Friday (December 14th) we went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Nassau Coliseum.  We had seen them before, and they always do a great show - I don't think we had ever seen so many flashing lights or lasers.

They are best known for their Christmas albums so it is always great to see them during the Holiday season.  The first part of the show is a Christmas story they have developed about an angel who is sent down to Earth by God to bring back something that best represents the good that has been done in honor of the birth of Jesus.  It is basically a Christmas rock opera.

Throughout the show they kept teasing a big surprise at the end.  We assumed it was going to big some big production for a song - but boy were we wrong.  At the end of the show they brought out none other than Roger Daltrey of The Who (who they called the originators of the Rock Opera) and with the band played a number of Who songs including Pinball Wizard and See Me, Feel Me.  To say we (and the whole crowd) were excited would be an understatement.

I took some pictures with my camera phone (hope they look ok):

Thanksgiving 2007
Sunday, December 16, 2007 - 5:44 PM
For Thanksgiving this year, we went to Phil's mom's like usual.  We brought Edgar with us and Laura, Phil's sister, brought her dog Rusty along with her boyfriend Michael.  Our cousin Kimmy and her girlfriend Amy (who live in Jersey City) came as well.

We took some pictures of us and also Laura, Michael and Rusty:

the boys watching football with Dad

On Sunday, November 25th, Cole and Edgar spent the afternoon watching the Giant's game with Phil ... well I think Cole is watching football, Edgar was passed out from all of the excitement:
So we were drinking wine with Andrea Immer yesterday ....
Sunday, November 04, 2007 - 5:24 AM
Well, that might be a slight exaggeration ....

You see, I had a class in New York City yesterday, and Judi decided to tag along and do fun things - she spent the morning at a turkish bath in the financial district and then saw Spring Awakening in the afternoon.

After my class got out we were going to go to dinner together, but had some time before our reservation, so decided to stop at Morrell Wine Bar, which is right off Rockefeller Center, as have a drink.  It was crowded (like usual) and after getting the wine list we managed to find a spot at the window bench.  Judi then pokes me and point to the bar (which is about 4 feet away) and who should be there but Andrea Immer:

If you don't know who Andrea Immer (now Immer-Robinson) is, she is one of only 14 women in to be appointed Master Sommelier by the prestigious Court of Master Sommeliers, hosted shows on Fine Living include Simply Wine and Wine Pairings with Andrea, and her latest effort being "appointed Master Sommelier for Delta Air Lines, for whom she will be choosing all of the in-flight wines as well as developing flight attendant wine training and in-flight video entertainment."  It apparently was for one of these in-flight video entertainment spots that she was filming in Morrell's (according to the camera guy we were talking to).

One neat thing we found out was that the wine they are talking about, that you think they are drinking, is not really what they are drinking.  They said they like to talk about wine that people can find where they live relatively easily - which wasn't the case for the wine they had been poured.

So, if you ever find yourself on a Delta flight, viewing a segment with Andrea Immer in Morrell's Wine bar, just keep in mind that the camera man shooting the scene was basically in our lap :-)
Happy Halloween - from Edgar
Sunday, November 04, 2007 - 4:26 AM
Hey everyone,

A few days late but I wanted to post some pictures of Edgar from Halloween.

At the animal hospital that Judi works at (South Putnam Animal Hospital - or SPAH), every year for Halloween the entire staff dresses up with a theme - which for this year was Pirates.  Since Judi had to work a full day she brought the dogs in with her and figured she would have Edgar dress up for the theme as well (Cole doesn't do as well with outfits).

Anyway, here are a few pictures of "Pirate Edgar":

Scary isn't he !?!?!?!?!

Well, Happy Halloween Everyone !!!
The Wine Cellar (First Post)
Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 3:11 PM
Hey everyone,

We figured it only made sense for the first post in our blog to be related to wine - and by coincidence, we recently finished construction of our wine cellar.

The wine cellar is located in our basement, so it looks really old and pretty darn cool if we do say so ourselves.

So far we have only loaded the wine we made - the full rack on the right - and have a long way to go with the rest of the wine we have (about 200 bottle).  The is partly because we are trying to log each wine into a computer program so that we can track what we have and where it is located.  This is also partly because I created the computer program as I didn't like any other I found and I keep finding enhancements to make ... and by "enhancements to make" I mean "bugs to fix".

Next time you stop by our place we will take you on a "tour of the cellar" :-)
