Wacko is a new summer seasonal brew put out Magic Hat Brewing company.  The "gimmick" to this beer is that it is brewed with beet juice which gives the beer a deep pink color.  This has caused some in the beer community to refer to this as a "chick beer" (and to be fair Judi did really like the color) - but I am secure enough in my manhood to give it a go.

Starting with the appearance - it is as expected bright pink in color, with a touch of amber to it.  It has a nearly white head that doesn't stick around too long.  The nose is very light with some grainy hops and fruity yeast notes.

And I must say the light nose is kind of a hint of what is to come - a beer that is just kinda "eh" in taste.  Especially given the bold color I was definitely expecting more.  Guess you could call this beer a tease.  The flavor is somewhat similar to Magic Hat's number 9, but not as good - a little more bitter and stale.

The beer isn't bad - and is definitely crisp and is definitely correctly marketed as a summer brew.  If someone offered this to me I would drink it and I am glad to have tried it, but I won't be seeking it out in the future.

I give the beer $3/pint - so a six back for $9.99 is fine, but I probably wouldn't pay bar prices for it
